Designer Spotlight: Siham Elmawey of Cameo The Label
We love nothing more than the classic and sophisticated style of Australian designer, Siham Elmawey from Cameo. Her designs are the perfect marriage of glamorous old Hollywood, with perfect refined lines and bold silhouettes.

We got the chance to chat with this innovator about her new collection that was inspired by a children's book.
Read on to learn more and hear her dish about her favorite trends, fashion faux-pas and why Australian brands are standing out from the rest.
DL: Tell us about the inspiration behind your collection.

Siham
: This collection is inspired by the children's storybook 'Animalia' written by Graeme Base.  It’s whimsical and playful, but also very strong and directional, which is what the Cameo girl is all about. We all have a little child left in us and this collection brings that to the forefront.

DL
: What do you think makes Australian fashion stand out from the rest of the world?

Siham
: We stand out from the rest with our ability to constantly adapt and diversify trends. We are masters at taking worldwide trends and putting our own spin on them. We simply continue to inspire, and be inspired.

DL
: Which piece from your collection is your absolute favorite?

Siham
: ‘The Apollo Top’ – I love the coated tracksuit fabric!

DL
: What trends are you most excited for this Fall/Winter?

Siham
: Wide leg culottes and knitted funnel neck jumpers.

DL: What is your go-to outfit when you’re running late in the morning?

Siham
: My Cameo printed wide legs, silk tank and Zara mules.

DL
: What fashion faux pas are you breaking and doing well?

Siham
: Wearing my sneakers too often! Lucky they are New Balance, which are trendy now!

DL
: What trend do you wish would go away… forever?

Siham
: Sandals worn with socks.

DL
: What was your favorite thing to wear as a kid?

Siham
: My mum’s heels.

DL
: Who do you think is the most innovation fashion influencer of today?

Siham
: I feel there are many fashion influencers today but saying that one of my favourites would have to be Rosie Assoulin.

DL
: What piece of fashion advice would you give?
Don’t be afraid to try new things! Embrace the beauty if prints and try mixing colours. Fashion is meant to be fun =)
